Redwings Horse Sanctuary
Love horses, love Redwings
Redwings is the largest horse sanctuary in the UK, with five visitor centres in England. These are a fantastic way to meet some of the charity’s 1,500 rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in beautiful surroundings and best of all, entry is free of charge, parking is free and dogs are welcome! You can meet every kind of horse, pony and donkey, from giant Shires to tiny miniature Shetlands and even the odd mule, and they all have an amazing story to tell of how they came to be in the charity’s care. All centres are accredited by VisitEngland, and in February 2019 Redwings Aylsham was awarded a special VisitEngland accolade for its ‘outstanding welcome’.
Redwings’ visitor centres all have a café on site and a well-stocked gift shop and there are organised ‘walks and talks’ of the centres as well as ‘meets and greets’ with Redwings’ adoption stars (who can be sponsored from just £15 a year). During the summer holidays there are also fantastic Summer Club activities for children including a ‘mini vet’ and ‘mini farrier’ session as well as a special session on donkeys!
Any funds raised go towards supporting Redwings’ charitable work across the UK, rescuing horses and donkeys in dire need, rehabilitating them and finding them a new home with a loving family or a place within the sanctuary.
Redwings’ visitor centres can be found in Oxhill, Warwickshire, Caldecott Hall near Great Yarmouth, Aylsham in North Norfolk, Nazeing near Harlow in Essex and Forfar in Angus, Scotland.
They are open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday all year round from 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays). Find out more at www.redwings.org.uk, telephone 0870 040 0033 or email email@example.com.
